Surfing around Siberut

Mentawai is group of islands in West Sumatera. Siberut is the main island. Mentawai has tourism potensial that be admited in the world especially in maritim sector. It is proved by a group of natural lover that all of Mentawai potensial will tempt for maritim lover all over the world. According to the group, perhaps Mentawai Island can be come the number one maritim tourism in the world.
Mentawai has the best surfing location in the world . In 1991 Rip Curl was one of the workers ship took ten the best surfer in the world, to research and prove the intencity of that location. At the end world will admit the existence of the Mentawai Island. As one of the best maritim tourism in the world beside Hawaii .
The conclusion of the group that had done the expedition make surprised because according to the data that the collective in fact the wave condition that available in Mentawai Island good for surfing , it have a big, high and long wave there, make the surfer don't want to stop. If the surfer want to be relax there are many bungalow there.

Mentawai has 5 good location for surfing , they are :

1. Nyang-nyang island ( Siberut )
2. Pitojat Island
3. Sibesiua Gulf and Katiet Gulf
4. Silabu-labu Island
5. Sibigau Island ( South Pagai )
The five location very important to develope tourism area in Mentawai Island. Beside Maritim sector there are sociocultural is also important,because there are etnic isolation in Mentawai Island that relationsip of sociaty life be based on mutual corporation and they have ritual arts that make spellbound if we be there, and make many people in the world interesting especially tourism.
After the group finished researches,so they met conclusion that the area wich suitable to fishing , snorkelling and diving is north side of Nyang-nyang Island. So many coconut tree with jungle are very enchanctment. It makes Nyang-nyang Island very different to other Islands. This area not only suitable to surving, but also to enjoy the romantic situation.
On the south side of Nyang-nyang Island Very suitable for swimming. There is Coralreef, The white sand and many coconut tree on the whole length of beach.
The distance between Mentawai Island to Padang is 75 km that around 4 to 5 hours with boat. The boat go to Mentawai Island once in a week. Some speed boat will be ready as fasility for transportation that go there every Sunday. The motor boat / speed boat with 30 knot / hours make us easy to go there from Bungus beach for 3 hours in normal weather. The other quaywall of Mentawai are Muara Siberut and Tuah Pijet by ferry twice in a week only 1 hour.
